Ligurian Riviera: landscapes to be lived

At Hotel Rosabianca, every experience takes shape from the desire to turn each stay in the Gulf of Tigullio into a treasured memory. Between strolls along the coastline, glimpses scented with sea-spray, and villages steeped in timeless charm, Liguria reveals vistas that linger in the mind.

In the heart of Rapallo, just steps from the sea and from famed destinations such as Portofino or the Cinque Terre, Hotel Rosabianca becomes a privileged starting point for discovering the Eastern Ligurian Riviera: paths that open onto the blue, tiny harbors wrapped in silence, seafaring traditions, and a food-and-wine heritage ready to astonish.

Discovering Rapallo

the castle overlooking the sea

The image of a bastion surrounded by the sea and connected to the land by a long bridge brings to mind the best piracy film scenes: this is Rapallo Castle, a building constructed in 1550 following the famous sacking by Dragut's pirates.

Like many of the historical castles, it was initially used as a prison, but now, given its evocative beauty, it hosts art exhibitions and conferences, and is the venue of choice for the city's patronal festivities.

The Kiosk of the Music

It is a small kiosk in Art Nouveau architectural style, typical of late 19th century film settings, where princes and queens dance in their private gardens by starlight. The kiosk was opened in 1929 by people from Rapallo who had emigrated to South America and who wanted to leave the city a beautiful place to hold dances and concerts.

The Kiosk stands 9 metres high and is surrounded by 12 columns, embellished by a frescoed dome.
The Kiosk was recently restored and can be admired in its splendour.

The Villages of Tigullio Ligure

The typical material of the Ligurian Tigullio villages is mainly slate, also known as ‘black stone’. It was precisely ardesi that the inhabitants of the region were called. Today, slate remains a precious product that inlays the village buildings.

That is why, as soon as you see a building whose entrance is framed by the black stone slab, you can stop and admire this testimony of history that, unique in Italy, will take you directly back to the construction of medieval dwellings.
