The image of a bastion surrounded by the sea and connected to the land by a long bridge brings to mind the best piracy film scenes: this is Rapallo Castle, a building constructed in 1550 following the famous sacking by Dragut's pirates.
Like many of the historical castles, it was initially used as a prison, but now, given its evocative beauty, it hosts art exhibitions and conferences, and is the venue of choice for the city's patronal festivities.
It is a small kiosk in Art Nouveau architectural style, typical of late 19th century film settings, where princes and queens dance in their private gardens by starlight. The kiosk was opened in 1929 by people from Rapallo who had emigrated to South America and who wanted to leave the city a beautiful place to hold dances and concerts.
The Kiosk stands 9 metres high and is surrounded by 12 columns, embellished by a frescoed dome.
The Kiosk was recently restored and can be admired in its splendour.
Exploring the villages of Tigullio means immersing yourself in a landscape of colorful facades, small marinas, and breathtaking views. From Rapallo to Portofino, each town tells a story of the sea and beauty, where the elegance of historic squares blends with the charm of typical Ligurian alleyways. It is a journey through pastel colors and the scent of the sea, in a region that offers unforgettable views at every turn.
